About Stevie Wix
Stevie Wix Cool Beans Candle Company was originally Pleasant View Candle Farm owned by my sister. The motto for her soybean wax candles was "From Field To Farm To You". In September of 2004, my husband and I purchased the Company from her so she could pursue other endeavors. Thank you, Sis, for the basis of all my candle knowledge!
When trying to re-name my candle company, I knew two things--I wanted to name it after my husband, Steve, who wholeheartedly supports me in all that I do; and I wanted the name to reflect my product. My sister suggested the cool beans part because the candles were all natural wax made of soybeans, so I liked that. I'll never forget when the idea clicked! I was driving along listening to a CD of my favorite singer (need I say who?) when it just flashed into my mind. Stevie (after my dear Stevie!) and Wix, a play on wicks. And yes, the whole thing is a play on that singer's name!
I was doing okay making candles on the side, but I wanted more! While driving around the Circle in downtown Shelbyville one day, I saw a "For Sale" sign in the window of the building where I had my very first job in high school. It was meant to be! We purchased the building and our retail location was opened in September of 2005.
I added "et cetera" to the name so it would reflect all the different things we carry in our gift shop in addition to our candles.
In addition to our candle lines, our retail location offers a great selection of warmers and oils, as well as a variety of gift items, many hand-made by local artisians. Here is just a sampling...

Our Inklings greeting card line combines pen & ink drawings or computer graphics with a creative mind to offer a cute, catchy card line at an affordable price.
Did you say you like angels? So do I! So we have a wide variety of unique angels (and fairies too!).
The "Bundles of Soy" collection is made by my daughter, a young mother, in recycled baby food jars. All profits from this line go into a college fund for her son, Xavier. "Baby Candles for a Baby's Future"
Our "Sayings Section" offers all kinds of sayings on all kinds of plaques. Some are profound, some sentimental and some just plain fun! We can make one just for you!
